Dondre Green

Dondre Green, NYC native, visual artist and storyteller, is a firm believer in unconventional methods and paths. As users hover over an element, it sharpens and becomes the focal point, while the surrounding items gently blur and fade.

He has worked with brands like Apple, Nike, Google, Adidas, Hypebeast, and his work has been highlighted by Instagram, Refinery 29, CBS, Buzzfeed and many more. This unconventional approach mimics the experience of flipping through a gallery or cinematic reel. I've learned the importance of staying organized, adapting and experimenting with different teaching styles, and most importantly, communication.

The work I create is all an extension of my experiences.

What camera and gear is your favorite to use?

My iPhone and DSLR, I shoot with a Nikon Z6 and a prime lens for most of my portraiture work. This flexibility accommodates different viewing preferences, whether users want a minimalist layout for a single film or a broader view for multiple projects at once.

If there’s one thing every creative knows, it’s that the journey is rarely a straight line.

You are described as a multidisciplinary artist, can you talk about how other mediums affect your photos?

So during my education journey, I pivoted to study Graphic Design, I wanted to better learn how to brand myself as an artist, in a city full of talented artists.

But the ones who truly make an impact? The work in my head and the work I’ve been making these days is more personal. Growing up in the public school system, there were very few times I felt teachers actually connected with the student body and had the student's best interest at heart. These things take time.

Is your community in New York City your main inspiration for much of your imagery?

I’m forever grateful to be born and raised in the Bronx.

Teaching at Bronx River Art Center, in my hometown, has yielded me tremendous growth and is super fulfilling in many ways.

So if you’re in a season of doubt, wondering if your creative dreams are worth the struggle, take a page from Dondre’s journey: keep going. Together, we did an exhibition in December of 2014 exploring “Bronx Narratives” through a short-film and a series.

Shortly after in the spring of 2015, we made Bronx Narratives a publication, where we could write our own stories.

Do you have any business advice for photographers?

Beyond the nature of the opportunity, read those contracts, ask questions, and negotiate what you feel you can best show up for.

You seem to really enjoy street , tell us about your creative process when shooting.

I love capturing pure, honest moments, especially in this ever-changing city.

The hero section utilizes scroll animations that transform the user’s experience as they move through the page.

As users scroll, the title text shifts to the top left corner, where it acts as the logo, while the images align to the center. The homepage prominently features curated highlights, while deeper navigation offers clear categorization (e.g., photography, filmmaking, about).

A subtle yet intentional design detail is the photo corner lines that form the borders of the page and frame specific content areas.
