“My husband is not one who wants to be just thrown out there,” Parton once said about Dean. He seemed to be genuinely interested in finding out who I was and what I was about,” she later recalled.
In 2024, she launched own cosmetic brand, Dolly Beauty, and a wine label dubbed Dolly Wines.
Part of her wealth derives from Parton’s insistence on owning her entire song catalog, which Forbes estimates is worth about $150 million as of 2021. Over the years, Parton has worked with charitable organizations in support of numerous causes, and in 1996, she established her own Dollywood Foundation.
“They call me the Book Lady. Her children’s book Dolly Parton’s Billy the Kid Comes Home for Christmas hit shelves in early October 2024. I enjoyed all the other artists (except Kathy Mattea, who across as some phony Liberal elitist) who had nothing but admiration for the way Parton handles herself and her career.
By the way, she's been married to the same guy her adult life, too.
The Biography.com staff is a team of people-obsessed and news-hungry editors with decades of collective experience. In 1983, she scored another major smash with “Islands in the Stream,” her duet with Kenny Rogers that topped the Billboard Hot 100. Thus, you see what I mean about her attitude and outlook on life.
She's easy to like and admire and now I see why this stretched this particular "biography" to two hours.

Two Hours of The Legendary Dolly
This Biography episode is one of the best, most detailed ones they have ever done with Dolly herself being interviewed in depth.
While casting hasn’t yet been confirmed, fans have speculated that the musical will star Parton’s goddaughter, Miley Cyrus.
Parton has captured her life story in books, too. “I guess my mama knew I was going to want to be a star,” Dolly later said about her mother’s choice for her first name.
Dolly grew up in rural Appalachia and was the fourth of 12 children, all of whom her mother delivered before turning 35.
Most of the Hollywood stars seem the most sincere and friendly in their comments (among them Lily Tomlin, Henry Winkler, Olympia Dukasis, Darryl Hannah) but I was shocked that many of the country stars come across a little fake, coy, and/or pretentious (the worst of the lot is Kathy Mattea, who is quite obnoxious with her humorless, heavy-handed analysis of the "real woman" who is under Parton's image) - how times have changed as country stars were once the most down to earth people in show business!
Dolly is the first one to poke fun at herself. I'm not even a fan of her music or films but this woman was so interesting, so intelligent and so honest with everything she said that the program turned out to be a fast-moving two hours. She was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999, the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2001, and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022.
More Music and 2024 Album
In 1992, Whitney Houston recorded Parton’s song “I Will Always Love You” for the movie The Bodyguard. I’m not holding back any information, but there are just some things that are sacred and private.
Net Worth and Imagination Library
Parton has an estimated net worth of $650 million, which includes profits from albums, singles, movies, Dollywood theme park, and other business ventures.
“I think it probably was his plan for me not to have kids so everybody’s kids could be mine.
