He was born on August 8, 1919, in Torre Annunziata, in the province of Naples. He studied at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, Italy’s national film school, which helped him launch a career in film production.

 

 

Career Beginnings
De Laurentiis began his career in Italian cinema in the 1930s and 1940s, initially working as a producer on small-scale films.

He was known for taking on ambitious and sometimes risky projects, blending artistic storytelling with commercial appeal.

 

 

Later Career
De Laurentiis continued producing films through the 1980s and 1990s, often focusing on adaptations and high-profile projects.

However, during this time, several notable films were released, including the James Bond parody "Kiss the Girls and Make Them Die," the spaghetti western "Navajo Joe," the war drama "Anzio," and the comic book adaptations "Barbarella" and "Danger: Diabolik."

Moving to the United States

In the 1970s, De Laurentiis relocated to the United States, where he established a new film studio, "De Laurentiis Entertainment Group," in Wilmington, North Carolina.
