In 1912 Hamilton became one of the youngest members ever admitted to the National Institute of Arts and Letters, eventually serving as secretary and vice-president.
He was named Honorary Fellow in Drama, Union College, Schenectady, New York, in 1936.

Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater are open this September with a full slate of nightly performances! He gave lectures on drama and literature at numerous educational institutions, worked as a dramatic critic and editor of Forum, The Bookman, Everybody's Magazine, Vogue, and Vanity Fair, and was also the author of numerous plays.
The Outsiders, Suffs and more were nominated in the Best Musical Theatre Album category.

The Columbus Jazz Orchestra (CJO) will kick off their 52nd season with The Greatest Jazz Concert in the World Oct.
10-13 at the Southern Theatre. Born in Brooklyn, N. Y., he graduated from the PolytechnicInstitute of Brooklyn in 1900 and from ColumbiaUniversity in 1901. His show continues 3/28 and 3/29 with sets at 8:30 and 10:30 pm. See who is performing and learn how to purchase tickets.
He enjoyed a life of good health until his sudden death of coronary thrombosis at his home in New York City.

Led by Bandleader Byron Stripling, the four concerts will feature legendary jazz musicians John Clayton and Jeff Hamilton alongside the orchestra.
