  • Mathematician Sir Andrew Wiles FRS wins the Royal Society's prestigious Copley Medal, The Royal Society(25 May 2017).

    In 1955, when Andrew was two years old, his father was appointed as a lecturer in New Testament Studies at Ibadan, Nigeria.

    He received the Pythagoras Award in Crotone, Italy, in 2004 and, in the following year, Wiles received the Shaw Prize. He was awarded the Schock Prize in Mathematics from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and the Prix Fermat from the Université Paul Sabatier.
