The exhibition will be on show at Robin Gibson Gallery, Darlinghurst from 24 November until 22 December 2018. She states that by taking advantage of its slowness as a medium, painting can constitute a means of thinking about and reading images - a paramount activity in modern life.

A KISS FROM A ROSE
Melbourne artist Bridgette McNab launches her third solo exhibition, A Kiss From A Rose in Sydney.
Grace Cossington Smith Biennial Award, Grace Cossington Smith Gallery, Sydney
2021.
In her latest series, ‘A Kiss From a Rose’, elliptical narratives unfurl, frame by frame, over eleven parts, each painting informing the next like fragments of an incomprehensible portrait. Her practice spans a range of subject matter that orbit a preoccupation with lifting the veil on perceived realities, both private and public.
Perhaps best known for her strong use of colour and graphic style, McNab’s figurative works search for truth and wisdom through comprehending both the tangible and sensory world. Deeply curious about the idea of what is ‘real’, McNab excavates a wide variety of modern subject matter spanning from hyperreality, performance, surveillance to spirituality.
Lingering close-ups of body parts and objects become visual synecdoche’s that are as much about concealment as they are revelation.
McNab’s tightly choreographed paintings unpack the enduring dialogue between painting and cinema that resounds with the language of illusion.
