IWP 2013 U.S. Army War College Fellow Brian J. Mennes was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General at a ceremony held at the Pentagon on June 5. U.S. Army.

    For many, Afghanistan and the lessons that should have been learned have been overshadowed recently by the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

    Tom and the general served together on three separate tours in Afghanistan and their conversation focuses on the wins that they achieved along the way along with the losses and the eventual fall of the Afghan government in August 2021.

    Mennes graduated from USMA with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. On September 20, 2021, Mennes' nomination and recommendation for promotion were withdrawn.[5][6]
