Chiranjeet Chakraborty, whose real name is Deepak Chakraborty is an Indian Actor and Politician. He took up B.E Architecture at Jadavpur University but did not complete it.
He was honoured with the esteemed Padma Shri Award in 1972 for his contribution to art.

He got a turning point in his career after starring in Rituparno Ghosh's 2000 film Bariwali.
31 March 2019 . As of 2024, he is a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Government of West Bengal. Chakraborty is also a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Government of Bengal and was a former MLA from the Barasat constituency of West Bengal from 2011 to 2016.

2022-05-30 . Chiranjeet gained popularity after starring in Anjan Choudhury's 1984 film, Shotru, even though he made his debut with the 1981 film, Sonay Sohaga, which was not a success. He did his schooling at Mitra Institution, a heritage school in Kolkata. 25 July 2022. Chakraborty regained the Barasat constituency as AITC candidate after defeating BJP candidate Sankar Chatterjee with a margin of 23,783 votes as declared on 2 May 2021.
His career took a major turn for the best when he acted in Bariwali, released in 2000 directed by Rituparno Ghosh.
In 2011, he won the West Bengal state assembly election in Barasat constituency for All India Trinamool Congress and is still a member of the Legislative Assembly of West Bengal.
Chakraborty won the Kalakar Awards-Best Actor Award for Ghar Sansar in 1993 and the Kalakar Awards-Best Director Award for Sansar Sangram in 1996.
