Ben Niles Celebrates Career in Culminating Exhibition Mixing Fine Art and Graphic Design at SOPAC
“Niles’ densely textured, eye-popping canvases are the perfect first art show to grace our gallery walls for Season 18 at SOPAC,” says SOPAC Executive Director Stephen Beaudoin. SOPAC is home for Seton Hall University Arts Council’s performances, including the Classical Concert Series, Jazz ‘N the Hall performances and Seton Hall University Theatre productions.
At UGA Athens, Niles studied under Ron Arnholm, a student of Paul Rand’s, who is known for his prestigious typography commissions and color theory. He is married to fellow actor Emily Raymond, and they have three children. The arts center hosts a variety of live performances, community events and education programs for all ages.
SOPAC offers innovative artistic and cultural experiences for diverse audiences in an intimate, inviting environment. Notable appearances include Montague Dartie in "The Forsyte Saga" (2002), Decombe in "V for Vendetta" (2005), and Cass Jones in "Speed Racer" (2008).
Notable Anthologies and Limited Series
In the acclaimed anthology series "Black Mirror," Miles portrayed Tom Pickering in the episode "Be Right Back" (2013).
He also played George Burrows in the historical drama series "The Romanoffs" (2018) and Commander Danny Hart in the thriller "Capture" (2019).
Recent Projects
2023 marked significant roles for Miles, including Armand de Caulaincourt in Russell Crowe's "Napoleon," Howard Lincoln in the biographical thriller "Tetris," and First Officer Robin Allen in the miniseries "Con Air."
Personal Life
Miles is known for his reserved attitude towards his personal life.
FULL CIRCLE is a testament to the power of artistic exploration and the profound impact it can have on both the artist and the viewer.

Since 2006, South Orange Performing Arts Center (SOPAC) has been serving as a premier performing arts center in the region.
Encouraged by the opportunity to skip classes for rehearsals (rather than a passion for acting), the young Miles found his calling in the spotlight.
He pursued his theatrical education at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama, alongside future stars such as Daniel Craig, Joseph Fiennes, and Orlando Bloom.
Film and Television Debut
Miles's cinematic journey began in the late 1980s with minor television roles.
SOPAC programs are made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. Niles is also an award-winning documentarian and has produced three feature documentaries to date, including Note by Note, which follows the making of a Steinway grand piano. With a background as a graphic designer in the music industry (Atlantic Records), his mixed-media paintings explore graphic shapes that create positive and negative space punctuated by bold contrasts of color.
“How fitting that we’re starting the Gallery’s season by showcasing the beautiful work of a South Orange, NJ resident artist! He also starred in the premiere season of the dramedy "Douglas Tended" as Toby.
.
I can’t wait to see you at The Herb + Milly Iris Gallery for this show, and I encourage you to consider building or adding to your own personal art collection with one or more of Ben’s stunning works.”This spellbinding merger of graphic design and painting represents the culmination of Niles’ education and experiences, bringing together the skills and inspirations he acquired throughout his career.
His breakthrough came a decade later in the title role of Angus Cotton in the BBC adaptation of Catherine Cookson's "The Round Tower" in 1998.
Historical and Sci-Fi Roles
