Later that year, while performing at the ill-fated Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala, he narrowly escaped death when a bomb—planted by al-Shabaab militants—detonated during the July 2010 terror attacks.

During high school, he served as the entertainment prefect, which sparked his passion for music.

Career

Bebe Cool’s musical journey began in 1997 when he moved to Nairobi, Kenya.

Personal Life

Bebe Cool is married to Zuena Kirema, and they have six children together: Allan Hendrick Ssali (from a previous relationship), Alpha Thierry Ssali, Beata Ssali, Caysan Ssali, Deen Ozil Ssali, and Eman Ssali.

Bebe Cool (formerly Bebe Bunton) started his music career right from high school when he was acting as an entertainment prefect.

Music career

Bebe Cool is a three-time winner of the Artist of The Year Award at the Prestigious HiPipo Music Awards and won several accolades at Pearl of Africa Music Awards (PAM Awards).

He was nominated for the Kora All-African Awards in 2003 and 2005.

That year, he went head-to-head with Nigerian pop star D’banj at a “Battle for Africa” concert in Harare, Zimbabwe—an event designed to showcase musical supremacy. In January 2010, he survived a police shooting incident that left him hospitalised. Songs such as Love You Everyday, Circumference and Motivation have only added to his extensive catalogue.

The remix was voted number 15, a testament to Bebe Cool’s staying power and reverence for musical heritage.

He has since performed at high-profile events, including two appearances in the Big Brother Africa house, and remains a visible figure on Uganda’s music scene.
