The year 1989 screened the project by the name News. Appa Haja worked in movies from different categories, be it comedy, drama, romance, horror, crime or thrillers.
Each of his characters was unique and diverse, and his work showcased his versatility as an actor and how he added a freshness to each of his role portrayals. He soon became friends with the Mirza-Laila couple who came to live in the adjacent unit of the apartment.
“Laila aunty was an excellent cook and hence Mirza uncle used to quite often invite me in to partake of the delicious dishes”, says Krishnakumar.
He contributed to many more films which include Aniyan Bava Chetan Bava, Kottayam Kunjachan and Swaminath. Krishnakumar was sure to be with Haja during Ramadan, be it in Ernakulam or in the capital city. Actors Beena Antony, Thesni Khan, and Maya Vishwanath were also present at the function.
Beena, who posed with Krishna Kumar's family, shared their photos on social media— “Haja, Kichu, and I always shared a great bonding.
“Appa Haja was my neighbour's relative and that is how we became friends,” he had once said.
Appa Haja made his debut in 1988 with ‘Ennennum Kannettente.’ He became popular after appearing in ‘In Harihar Nagar’ and also reprised his role in the sequel.
Bonded by love and food: Actor Krishnakumar shares fond memories of Appa Haja
Krishnakumar and Appa Haja are inseparably bonded by love… and food.
In the year 1997, he did a movie called Janathipathyam.
1998 saw the release of Sreekrishnapurathe Nakshathrathilakkam, and in 1990, he acted in Ee Thanutha Veluppan Kalathu. It’s strange how some people walk into our lives quite by chance and then stay there forever. Our children have all grown up. A majority of his work belongs to Malayalam language movies.
Haja’s umma too was an excellent cook. See pics
Actor and politician Krishna Kumar and family were the cynosure of all eyes at actor Appa Haja’s daughter’s wedding. On one such occasion Mirza uncle invited a close relative who happened to be Appa Haja. Both actors have been friends for years and their families are also very close.
Krishnakumar’s wife Sindhu Krishna and daughter Ishaani shared photos of the wedding on their social media pages.
On to Ramadan next! It was a lovely reunion.”
Krishna Kumar and Appa Haja became friends when the former moved to Thiruvananthapuram. It was great to meet everyone after so many years at Haja’s daughter’s wedding. He recalls that he used to stay over in Haja’s house on his trips to Ernakulam. If by any chance both could not make it to a common meal or when they were at different locations for their shoots, the special Ramadan festival food would arrive at Krishnakumar’s home, courtesy of Haja.
The years have gone by, the friendship has become stronger, several Ramadans have also been shared with joy and now … the COVID!
Though they could not meet in person, they greeted each other all the while remembering those happy times spent together in the warmth of Haja’s loving parents.
Krishnakumar hopes the happy times will be back again soon. The story is about a haunted house and falls in the horror genre. In 2009 his projects by the names Kappalu Muthalaali and Utharaswayamvaram hit the theatres.
