Both will step down in 2025, making this Pacitto’s last ICA presentation with her manufacturer sponsor, Davines.

“Because of Anna and Davines, ICA was the only organization in 2020, 2021 and 2022 that put out collections,” says Wilson. One takes away a lot of time from the other. Even though the process of creating a collection is similar, in that you get inspired by the same things – fashion, trends at large, nature, beauty – when you create a collection for a hair care brand you have guidelines.

So, I absolutely did not have any aspiration about this.

But that didn’t stop her from delivering a stunning artistic collection. Below are the three winners and sponsoring members:

1st place: Kylene Krueger.

“We came back to our roots, but better and stronger—it was really beautiful,” Intercoiffure America Canada’s President Sheila Wilson says.

Even when I’m not involved in a competition I’m always researching.

Anna Pacitto’s Final ICA Collection

Since 2019, Anna Pacitto has served as ICA Artistic Director alongside Wilson as president. Where do you find the drive to excel for yourself, and to push others to become their best?

A.P.: You go through some dry spells and you keep researching, looking at different things from a new angle.

This past year, in April 2019, I held a hands-on class for 80 people in Las Vegas and came with five people from my team. “You can talk to people outside your area and find out how they are running their businesses and enjoy a mutual, respectful relationship with your peers.”

And Pacitto says the spring and fall events are the icing on the cake.

“There are important brands at every event and an array of different classes which are enriching and useful to me as an artist and a business owner,” she says.

Personality of the Year

Next year, Pacitto will step down as Artistic Director, but first, she will accept the Personality of the Year award at the Intercoiffure knighting ceremony in Saint Tropez July 2.

She is known globally for her editorial work, and as ICA artistic director, creates one collection and two presentations every year at ICA’s Spring Gathering and Fall Atelier.

“I love being part of the ICA team and consulting or mentoring when I’m needed,” she says. Her funeral and burial will be private.

At this year’s Spring Gathering  in April, Pacitto executed the photoshoot for her ICA collection on stage in front of a live audience.

“When you’re doing a photoshoot for a competition or editorially, everything needs to be 100 percent,” she says.

Honoring Students, Teachers, New Stylists, and Legends

ICA members also connected with educators, students, new stylists, new manufacturers and association partners,  and even a couple legends at Atelier. “We did it via email, streaming, social media—we found a  way.

With her sponsor, Davines, Pacitto headed to Parma, Italy, for her first ICA photoshoot.

“We could not have a live presentation, so we went to Italy, where we practically had the whole country to ourselves, and stayed five days to shoot the collection in the Davines Village,” she says.

It was unveiled to ICA members in October 2020, and in the spring, Pacitto filmed her second presentation from her home city, Montreal.

Sans Bias Award

Presented to an ICA member who gives and does not expect anything in return, working for the best of the organization. I’m constantly looking and thinking: ‘Will this work for a hair collection?’

Q: What are the challenges of having an artistic personality with the practical aspects of being a very successful business woman?

A.P.: Sometimes they contrast quite a bit and they fight because they don’t necessarily go hand in hand, but one completements each other.
