She was born and brought up in Karimnagar, Telangana, India. She got her first break as an actress in the Telugu film ‘Erra Sainyam’ in the year 1994. She also hosted the various popular TV shows like ‘Once More Please’, ‘Pillalu Pidugulu’, etc. She is the highest paid television host on Telugu TV channels. She has starred in three Telugu films, Aapada Mokkula Vaadu (2008), Leader (2010) and Julai (2012) alongside Allu Arjun. Her  father also worked as a poet; Udaya Bhanu was named after his pen name. Her father  died when Udaya Bhanu was four years old.  She  was lucky to have twin girls on September 2nd, 2016. She made her acting debut in R. Narayana Murthy's Erra Sainyam (1990) while studying at university at the age of 19. She performed item numbers in three Telugu films Aapada Mokkula Vaadu (2008), Leader (2010) and Julai (2012).
