The inspiring legacy of the revered founder Prof (Dr.) Vishwanath D.Karad
It was in the year 1981, that a freshly graduated engineering student, disheartened with limited opportunities that the education system had to offer, was on the verge of committing suicide when a brief encounter with Prof. This event highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue in addressing global challenges.
His works include notable titles such as In Quest of Universal Peace, Pathway to World Peace, The Bell of Hiroshima - Ringing Once Again, and Human Rights, Human Values and Social Change. The World Peace Centre was established as part of MIT in 1996 to emphasize “the importance of value-based universal education in promoting a culture of peace in the global society.”
Vishwanath Karad visited Utah in 2015 to speak in the Parliament of the World’s Religions.
Karad’s academic journey began with a strong foundation. At a time when the youth prioritizes revolt over patience, the society faces chaos, confusion, and conflicts, marked by a disregard for ethical, social, and moral values, deeply rooted in the 'indifferent' and 'I don't care' culture. He has also presented over 60 papers at national and international conferences, covering a wide array of subjects related to education, human rights, peace studies, and the integration of science and spirituality.
Dr. Vishwanath Karad was born into a humble farming family in the small village of Rameshwar (Rui) in Maharashtra, India. Here, we encourage our students to curate their own stories, carve their own trajectories, and build their own paths. Over the past 4 decades, students of MIT-WPU have created their footprints of excellence all over the world that inspire the spirit of transformation, change, and perseverance.
He also played a key role in the 69th Marathi Sahitya Sammelan and the 700th Sanjeevan Samadhi celebration of Saint Dnyaneshwar Maharaj in 1996.
Dr. His dedication to cultural and environmental preservation is also evident in his work with the Shri Kshetra Alandi Parisar Vikas Samiti, which focuses on sustainable development and pollution control in pilgrimage centres.
Prof.
In 2022, Dr. Karad hosted Elder Christofferson and a Church delegation for the unveiling of a statue of the Prophet Joseph Smith at the World Peace Dome.
A devout Hindu, Dr. Karad appreciates and respects the scriptures of all faiths, teaches the importance of religion in society generally, and fully believes in and promotes interfaith harmony.
