Shamsher Bahadur Singh was a poet who stirred the waters of Hindi literature with gentle yet profound words. This was also the voice of a painter who was experimenting with different forms to understand his art.

Being from a lower-class family, Singh did not enjoy the privileges of life, but he remained full of interest and fondness for books. Despite the lack of formal schooling opportunities in his village, he pursued education through self-study and voracious reading. Six years passed, and Dharmavati’s young, hopeful marriage came to an end because she had tuberculosis and passed away.
In Shamsher’s world, the task is not to understand what meets the eye; it is to feel the pulse of the time and be with it. He learned everything independently by reading a lot, and soon, he had words as his best friend.
