Early Life

Petronella Tshuma was born on January 13, 1990, in Botswana.

At the age of five, she moved with her family to South Africa, settling in the vibrant neighbourhood of Hillbrow, Johannesburg.

She attended Filton High School, where she majored in Drama and delivered a standout performance as Carmen in the musical Fame. Her latest film, Clean Job, was set for release on Amazon Prime in 2023.

On television, Petronella’s portrayal of Pearl Genaro in Rhythm City (2015–2021) became her signature role, captivating audiences with her depiction of a fierce and determined character seeking justice for her father’s death.

Her performance earned her a SAFTA for Best Actress in a Soap in 2021 and a nomination for Best Supporting Actress.

Petronella Tshuma also appeared in series such as 90 Plein Street, Sokhulu & Partners, Mzansi Love: Kasi Style, Isono, and Goodmen, showcasing her versatility across various genres.

In 2016, she guest-starred in the e.tv drama series Hustle and had a starring role in the third season of the SABC1 legal drama series Sokhulu & Partners as intrepid investigator Qaqamba “Q” Jezile.

    Petronella went on to star in the e.tv drama series Harvest, in 2017.

    From 2006 to 2008, she pursued formal training at the South West Academy of Dramatic Arts (SWADA), earning a BTEC in Acting.
