Biography
In Mauritius, he mastered Bass, Contrabass & Piano by himself. It gave me my own identity. Very dynamite and strong. This is one of the strongest string I’d never played with since years and years being on the road. “I love the guy.
His most recent album, “Island Jazz”, is a collaboration with the Malagasy diva Monika Njava, was released in 2014 on Anio Records.
He collaborated with a variety of artists.
Now he is a first call bass player in France. Linley currently lives in Paris. He’s a composer and arranger for many artists on his native Maurice Island.
Linley was the last in a long line of great bassists (including Jaco Pastorius) to perform and record with the late, great keyboardist, Joe Zawinul, who passed away in 2007.
Linley has performed with the Paco Sèry Group, Antoine Hervè, Michel Portal, Francois Jeanneau Quartet, Francis Lassus Nguyen Lè, Louis Winsberg, Karim Ziad, Cheb Mami, Mino Cinelu and Richard Galliano.
When asked what he loves about Markbass, Linley’s thoughts turn first to the man behind the company.
I’m really happy about and it matches very good to my style of playing. He also composed, arranged and produced music for a lot of artists. With Markbass I really have my own thing.”
