She died of lung cancer on September 9, 2001.
She also owned homes in Land O" Lakes, Wisconsin and Naples, Florida, where she wintered.

After they divorced, Harry Lynde Bradley, a co-founder with his brother Lynde Bradley of the Allen-Bradley Company, married Peg in 1926, adopted Margaret and changed her name to Jane Bradley. In 2000 alone, the foundation made more than 160 grants to various causes.[4] Pettit gave $13 million to help build the Calatrava addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum and donated additional funds to help purchase Georgia O’Keeffe paintings.
She shared with her mother a love of art, and credited her father’s treatment of the people who worked for him as the guiding light of her philanthropy.[5]

A native of the Milwaukee area, Lloyd Pettit went on to become a Hall of Fame hockey announcer for the Chicago Blackhawks.
The foundation provided money for the BMO Harris Bradley Center, the Lynde & Harry Bradley Technology and Trade High School on 700 South 4th Street, and the Pettit National Ice Center. Jane and Lloyd Pettit purchased the Milwaukee Admirals hockey team in 1976. In early 1945, she married David Vogel Uihlein Sr., an heir to the Schlitz Brewing Company.
She also attended Finch College in New York City in the drama department. Jane was educated at the Lake School for Girls, Milwaukee-Downer Seminary, and Milwaukee University School before attending college at Principia in St. Louis. In 1985 she started the Jane Bradley Pettit Foundation.

She entered society as a debutante on January 1, 1938 at the Milwaukee Country Club.
Background
Her father was Harry Lynde Bradley, co-founder of Allen-Bradley and the Bradley Foundation with her uncle, Lynde Bradley.
She donated $90 million to the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Her United States$20 million donation to build the Lynde & Harry Bradley School of Technology & Trade, which replaced 100-year-old Milwaukee Technical & Trade High School, was the largest single private gift ever to a public school in the United States.
She also donated $9 million to the Pettit National Ice Center, an indoor skating facility with two Olympic-sized hockey rinks and a 400-meter skating oval.
In 1999, she bought 14 percent of the Milwaukee Brewers.
She was inducted into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame because of lieutenant She also donated more than United States$100,000 to the United Way of Great Milwaukee.
The Jane Bradley Pettit Building, home to the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design, is named for her.

Jane Bradley married Grant Hart Messinger on December 9, 1941, but the marriage lasted only 17 months. After retiring as an announcer, Pettit married Jane Bradley and together they ran the Milwaukee Admirals and sponsored The Bradley Center.
