Indrani Perera (ඉන්ද්‍රානි පෙරේරා: born 15 February), is a Sri Lankan singer and playback singer.

Indrani’s first public encounter was a recording for school at the Radio Ceylon. This was followed by ‘Sigiriya’ and a number of other hits. She studied Kandyan Dancing in the school. Later in 2009, Nimendra obtained a degree in Business Studies.

Later in 1969, Indrani Joined Annesley with Moonstones and sang her first song ‘Dilhani’ which became an instant hit. Her poetry has appeared in journals in Australia, India and the USA including Burrow, Cordite, Eye to the Telescope, hākārā, MantissaPoetryReview, More Than Melanin, RochfordStreetReview, Teesta Review, The Crow and The Victorian Writer and been anthologised by Geelong Writers Inc, Girls on Key, Ginninderra Press and WA Poets Inc.

Indrani performs on the open mic and has been featured at Girls On Key and Fresh Voices for Melbourne Spoken Word.

Indrani along with Clarence Wijewardena and Annesley Malewana are known as “The Original Sinhala Pop Trio”.

Early life

She was born on 15 February in Borella, and is the second of three girls in the family. She met him during the production of his song Ha Ha Hore Danuna, where he was the Lotus Disc producer.

The lead in this song is sung by Mallika.

Her poetry appears on the Ballarat Writers podcast, and she has been interviewed for 3CR's Spoken Word program. The couple has one daughter, Anjalie Charukeshi and one son, Pastor Nimendra Dhananjaya. Nimendra is married to Roshani. He went to St. Thomas’ Preparatory School, Kollupitiya.

Indrani Perera is a Sri Lankan/German/Australian poet living and working on unceeded Wurrundjeri Country in Naarm (Melbourne).

Their mother was an accomplished pianist and a singer and though the father did not play any instruments, he loved music and was a close associate of Mohammed Ghouze, famously known as Ghouse Master. On the 31st December 1969, they had their first performance at the Hotel Taprobane (now called Grand Orient Hotel – GOH).
