Reliance Communications has announced the appointment of Gurdeep Singh as President & CEO of its Wireless Business.

Gurdeep with his extensive experience will be responsible for leading Reliance Communications Wireless Business to achieve higher revenues and profitability. 

 

Additionally, Gurdeep Singh will also be a member of Reliance Management Board (RMB).

 

Speaking on the development, Gurdeep Singh said, “I am delighted to be a part of the Reliance Group and look forward to an exciting journey in taking Reliance Communications Wireless Business to greater heights”.

 

Gurdeep Singh, an alumnus of BITS Pilani, is an experienced, motivated and highly result oriented business leader with a rich experience of 29 years and has worked in sectors like Telecom, Home Appliances and Consumer Electronics.

 

Prior to joining Reliance Group, Gurdeep was the Chief Operating Officer, India, with Aircel.

Singh will be replaced by Jean Pascal, who is also COO, Maxis CommunicationsBerhad, a top company executive with direct knowledge of the matter told ET. Malaysia's Maxis owns 74% in Aircel.  He has also worked in Hutch (Now Vodafone) as Director – Operations, North, for about 5 years.

KOLKATA/MUMBAI: Attrition has hit Aircel's top management even as the 2G scam rages and the company gears towards a possible sale.

Maxis group CEO and Aircel director Sandip Das, who operates from Malaysia, is also travelling frequently to India to oversee the transition and spruce up Aircel's ailing telecom operations which are dragging down the overall global assets of Maxis and its parent T Ananda Krishnan-owned Binariang Group. Aircel paid 9,937 crore for 3G airwaves in 13 service areas and broadband in eight service areas.
