In his works he brings the poet­ry of cities and land­scapes to light, paints and trans­forms them. Got­tfried Salz­mann lives and works in Paris.

Since his first exhi­bi­tions in 1968/69 in Linz, Paris and Salzburg, he has reg­u­lar­ly exhib­it­ed and par­tic­i­pat­ed in exhi­bi­tions in Euro­pean and Amer­i­can gal­leries and muse­ums. While land­scapes were used ear­li­er, series from large cities fol­lowed lat­er. In 1983, Salz­mann trav­eled to New York for the first time, and exten­sive trav­el activ­i­ties fol­lowed.

In 1978, the first pho­to exhi­bi­tion with works by the artist took place in Saint Ger­main-en-Laye. Got­tfried Salz­mann lives and works in Paris. In his inten­sive involve­ment with print­mak­ing, where he exper­i­ment­ed many times, he also devel­oped new tech­niques such as photeau­forte. Works by the artist hang in pri­vate and pub­lic col­lec­tions in Aus­tria, France, Switzer­land, Liecht­en­stein, Korea, Chi­na, the Philip­pines and the USA.

In his works he turns to dif­fer­ent tech­niques and seeks inter­ac­tions with draw­ing, engrav­ing, pho­tog­ra­phy, acrylic and oil paint­ing. He stud­ied at the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in Vien­na from 1963 to 1965 and at the Ècole nationale supérieure des beaux arts in Paris from 1965 to 1968. Works by the artist hang in pri­vate and pub­lic col­lec­tions in Aus­tria, France, Switzer­land, Liecht­en­stein, Korea, Chi­na, the Philip­pines and the USA.
