Anne was 26 at the time and already pregnant with their first child, Susanna. What historians are certain of is that during this time Shakespeare left behind the image of a country youth and re-emerged as a playwright and businessman, so at some point during this time he learned his trade as a writer in London.

The late sixteenth century and early seventeenth century is referred to as the golden age of English drama, due to the popularity of theatre, and volume of plays produced at that time.
He became a shareholder in his company, invested in Stratford property, and in 1597 purchased New Place, one of the town’s grander homes. He also continued to make the occasional long journey to London. One of his most famous partnerships was with the actor Richard Burbage, who starred in many of Shakespeare’s plays. He reshaped chronicles, novellas, and older plays, and at times co-wrote with contemporaries.
Hamnet died of unknown causes at 11 years old, but William’s daughters and wife outlived him. Girls did not receive a school education.

Who is William Shakespeare?
William Shakespeare, often hailed as the greatest dramatist of all time, was an influential English poet, playwright, and actor from the Renaissance era.
Today, his works are considered some of the greatest in the English language and are still performed around the world.
Collaborations and Partnerships
Throughout his career, William Shakespeare collaborated with a number of other playwrights and actors. He stretches the line with pauses, inversions, and a chemistry of sound that makes sense feel inevitable.
Shakespeare’s success in London allowed him to become a wealthy man, and he invested his earnings in property and other ventures. The First Folio, published posthumously in 1623, played a crucial role in cementing his legacy, ensuring that his previously less-known plays became widely read and performed. The historical record, though incomplete, coheres: plays attributed to him overlap with company records, contemporary testimony, and publication patterns.

It seems that Shakespeare did not maintain a London household, but lived in several lodgings with landlords and other lodgers during his London years.
It was in this area Shakespeare and his business partners Kempe and Burbage built their own theater on the south bank of The Thames river, which they called the Globe Theater. Some of his plays, such as Othello and The Merchant of Venice, have been accused of perpetuating negative stereotypes of non-white characters. He married Anne Hathaway in 1582 and had three children, including twins Hamnet and Judith.
The publication of his works, including sonnets, narrative poems, and plays, created a reliable income stream. Built in 1599, it was located on the south bank of the River Thames in London and could hold up to 3,000 spectators.
