The album sold four million copies worldwide and was certified platinum in the United States. It turned out really well, and he ended up doing his own remix of 'Are You Still Having Fun.'"

Staying Grounded

After the release of his first album, Eagle Eye outlined his personal philosophy for navigating the shark-infested waters of pop music: "Don't take it too seriously.

It was none other than Rick Rubin, the legendary founder of Def Jam and producer of such luminaries as the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Cult, Beastie Boys, Public Enemy, and Johnny Cash.

"You've made your first record on a small budget, and it's a success. The energy that bands like The Clash, Blondie, Talking Heads and Modern Lovers exuded became an inspiration for new songs, even if the foundation of his music is still, as he puts it, “organic old school”.

Six years later saw the release of the album Streets of You, which was nominated for a Swedish Grammy award and reached the top 10 on the Swedish radio chart. "I never thought I'd hear myself saying the words, 'Hi, Rio,'" he says. In addition to his contribution to Carlos Santana's multiple Grammy Award-winning album "Supernatural," Eagle Eye also wrote a song for the forthcoming Dust Brothers album.

Eagle Eye Cherry: The Rise of a Global Musical Phenom

After the release of his debut album, Eagle Eye Cherry outlined his personal philosophy for navigating the shark-infested waters of pop music: "Don't take it too seriously. "She's the greatest, coolest person," Eagle Eye says proudly.

While Eagle Eye's own expectations for the album may have been modest, critics had no doubts that they were witnessing the arrival of a major new talent. Don't take it too fast. He comes from a musical family as his father is jazz cornettist Don Cherry and the half-brother to rapping pop star Neneh Cherry.

Cherry studied acting at the New York School of Performing Arts.

He came home and I was asleep. Soon after he was born, he moved to New York with his father, where he began acting and playing music.
After Don Cherry’s death in 1995, Eagle-Eye moved to Stockholm with his girlfriend, and began to focus on songwriting. He soon recorded Desireless, and it became a hit across Scandinavia and the rest of Europe, and an American release came in 1998.

He still played the occasional gig, and eventually it was his longing to get to share the live experience with his band and the audience again that urged him to make a comeback with the album Can’t Get Enough in 2012. But perhaps his most striking collaboration is with Maxim of techno supergroup The Prodigy. Eagle-Eye attended the School of Performing Arts, playing the drums in several bands and trying to support himself as an actor.

I wrote and recorded some lyrics and sent them back to him, so we never even met in the studio. Yet, it now seems as if he were destined for a life in music.
