Traditionally there has been polarisation in music through our society�s past. He left law school and applied for a full-time diploma in media studies at the Johannesburg Boston Media House. It was during his time in Johannesburg that DJ Fresh began to establish himself as one of the leading figures in the South African music scene. Career Beginnings and Rise to FameWhile completing his third year at Boston Media House, DJ Fresh seized the opportunity to work at YFM, a community radio station in Johannesburg that would soon become one of the city’s most influential youth stations.
Fresh was heading up the YFM breakfast team by 2003 and was quickly snapped up by 5FM in 2006 where the Fresh Drive has since become a 5FM institution as well as one of the station�s most popular shows.Fresh is set to release his twenty fourth house album in 2010 � a Soul Candi production called Evolution part two.

Fresh subsequently dropped his law studies and pursued radio fulltime, joining YFM in 1997.
The duo, known as “Domboshaba Duo,” released their first album The Beginning in October 2022, featuring various artists like Rock’itMan, Nomvula SA, and Audius. DJ Fresh continued his musical journey with the release of his 13-track studio album Voices of Hope 2 in 2023. He has toured internationally, performing in cities such as Miami, London, Moscow, and Dubai.
Nothing is stopping DJ Fresh as his career continues to grow at an exponential rate. However, their marriage faced challenges, and they began the divorce process in 2020, officially separating in 2022.
International ReachDJ Fresh’s influence extends beyond South Africa. He is 51 years old as of 2023 and celebrates his birthday on October 15th every year. Early LifeHe born in Botswana but moved to South Africa in 1994 to further his studies.
Inspired by international conferences such as The Miami Winter Music Conference, DJU established the Southern African Music Conference in 2005. He is a movie buff and has a massive DVD collection � some of his favourite personal indulgences also include watches, fragrance and shades. 5FM has extremely high standards and benchmarks which inspire me to be even more inspired, if you understand what I mean.�
In his spare time Fresh loves to relax with his wife and son at home.
Fresh has over one hundred and twenty fragrances in his personal collection, as well as forty watches and twenty pairs of sunglasses. His time at 5FM solidified his status as one of South Africa’s top DJs. In 2017, DJ Fresh transitioned to Metro FM, where he hosted the “Fresh Breakfast Show.” The show quickly became one of the station’s most-loved slots, further enhancing his reputation in the industry. Challenges and ResilienceDJ Fresh’s career faced challenges in August 2019 when Metro FM fired him after a listener complained about the strong language he used during a live broadcast.
The conference is more than a talk shop for deejays & producers; it is a critical platform for Southern African dance music industry practitioners to keep pace with, and eventually lead global developments. I�m still building the foundations of my career � so much can still be done. Fresh also has a joint venture with DJ Euphonik called F.Eu.
