He arrived in Honolulu on March 19, 1864, and was ordained on May 21 in Our Lady of Peace Cathedral, near the corner of Beretania and Bishop Streets. Because the community was always short of supplies, he badgered the Hawaiian government, the Board of Health, and his church superiors for more resources. In keeping with his wishes, he was buried in the cemetery next to his church.
He spent the next eight years on Hawai‘i Island ministering to the people in the Puna and Kohala-Hamakua districts.

This collection consists of typescripts and drafts of the plays of Aldyth Morris, correspondence, newspaper and magazine clippings, drawings, scrapbooks, photographs, brochures, programs of performances of the plays, drawings and published books.

Damien was presented on July 28–29, 2012, at Kennedy Theatre on the UH Mānoa campus.
Damien’s death was noted widely. Significant in the collection is the version of her play Damien, lengthened and revised for London and other European productions.

Aldyth Morris was born August 14, 1901, and died in Pasadena, California on April 24,1997.
The database also includes those plays produced by fringe (unsubsidised) companies and by semi-professional organisations, where the work is deemed to be of particular significance to the repertoire. A public discussion about the play following the performance was sponsored by the Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities, with support from the “We the People” initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Manoa Foundation.
