Ahmose, son of Ebana

Ahmose, son of Ebana served in the Egyptian military under the pharaohs; Tao II Seqenenre, Ahmose, Amenhotep I, and Thutmose I.

His autobiography has survived intact on the wall of his tomb and has proven a valuable source of information on the late 17th Dynasty and the early 18th Dynasty. Before him are Igor Svyatoslavich, Theodora Palaiologina, Friedrich Christian, Margrave of Meissen, Contessina de' Bardi, Archduchess Clementina of Austria, and Grand Duke Sergei Mikhailovich of Russia.

His father had served under Seqenenre II, and Ahmose himself entered the army as a young man. Ahmose eventually died an old and honoured warrior, loaded down with decorations and land.

Ahmose, son of Ebana

Ahmose, son of Ebana, (Amosis, Aahmes; meaning "Iah (the Moon) is born") served in the Egyptian military under the pharaohs Ahmose I, Amenhotep I, and Thutmose I.

His autobiography, which is inscribed on the wall of his tomb, and remains remarkably intact, is a valuable source of information on the late 17th Dynasty and the early 18th Dynasty of Egypt. I was presented with gold [by the king for bravery] seven times in the presence of the whole land; male and female slaves likewise.

Eventually Ahmose was elevated to the rank of admiral, though an exact or even a general date of this promotion is not known.

He also fought in Nubia. Ahmose was awardedslaves and otherspoils by the pharaohafterAvaris was sacked.

Under the reign of Thutmose I, Ahmose participated in several major military campaigns against insurgent Hyksos tribes in the NileDelta. Ahmose also participated in the three-year siege of Sharuhen in southernCanaan for which he was rewarded.

In his autobiography (inscribed on the walls of his tomb at el-Kab) he wanted the world to know how he had served under three successive kings: Ahmose I, Amenhotep I and Tuthmosis I, their reigns spanning the years 1570 to 1524 BC. His proud opening remarks set the scene:

Ahmose also participated in three the siege of Sharahen for which he was rewarded.
