Abasaheb expressed several important thoughts on industry and entrepreneurship in India. In 1937, he founded “Garware Motors Ltd.,” leaving a distinct mark in the industrial sector. Despite his busy schedule, he had a deep interest in sports, music, and gardening.
His move of buying cars in England helped him to get a good grip on the second-hand car business. In 1976, Garware Hi-tech Films succeeded in the production of metallised film, metallic yarn, packaging, tracing and drafting films as well as various hi-tech films in Aurangabad and later in Nashik without using any international technique and collaboration.
Due to the quality of its products and technology, the company captured many of the sophisticated markets in the Western world and competed with many Fortune 500 companies in the United States.
His wife, Vimalabai, was his lifelong companion and played a vital role in holding the family together.
In 1959, the Government of India appointed him Sheriff of Mumbai. This move brought him good profits. By producing cords required for parachutes, he also made significant contributions to the defense sector. In India, he came to be known as the pioneer of polyester film.
