I’ve learned a few very important mindsets that really works for me; be aware when you are overthinking, know when to stop and breathe and no one cares more than yourself.
Somehow, when any of those mindsets rings, alarm alert! In a world where authenticity is often overshadowed by artifice, Angrill’s art serves as a beacon of sincerity and beauty, reminding us of the profound power of creativity to inspire, uplift, and transform.
ORIOL ANGRILL JORDÀ (Barcelona, 1986) is a visual artist based in Mallorca, known for his figurative work in watercolor and printmaking, where traditional craftsmanship meets a contemporary vision and digital experimentation.
He studied Illustration at the Escola Superior de Disseny de les Illes Balears and continued his training in London at The Art Academy (Life Drawing) and Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design (Etching).
Portraiture is the spark that ignites his creative process. I make art to heal and understand myself through each piece.
I’m to attach to it and I can’t say that it is all about something specific once was written in the statement. That is limiting. Throwing back in time, when I started working as an artist and also commissions, my whole life was only work and I barely took time for other things that were not art related.
In his practice, technique is not merely execution but a way of thinking, a dialogue between the tangible and the intangible, between material and intuition. Rooted in a profound reverence for nature and a relentless pursuit of visual innovation, Angrill’s artistry serves as a testament to the transformative power of creativity.
Angrill’s journey into the world of art was unconventional, marked by a gradual discovery of his innate talents rather than an inherent passion for the craft.
Rejecting the trends and conventions of contemporary art, he seeks to create works that reflect the beauty and complexity of real life, eschewing abstraction in favor of a more grounded and relatable approach.
For Angrill, art is not merely a means of self-expression but a tool for connecting with others and fostering a deeper understanding of the world around us.
I have a garden full of plants and stuff that need constant maintenance so there is always something to do or fix under the amazing weather we have here in Mallorca.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My work is difficult to define from my point of view. Inspired by artists like M.C.
Escher, Angrill began to hone his skills, realizing that he possessed the ability to create works of art that resonated with others on a profound level.
Angrill’s artistic journey reached a turning point when he enrolled in the Escuela Superior de Diseño de las I.Baleares, where he delved into the world of illustration.
Through his art, he invites viewers to embrace the beauty of nature and to contemplate their place within it, offering a fresh perspective on the relationship between humanity and the natural world.
As he continues to evolve as an artist, Angrill remains committed to pushing the boundaries of his creativity and exploring new avenues of expression.
It was here that his passion for art truly flourished, and he made the decision to dedicate himself fully to his craft.
Angrill’s artistic philosophy is grounded in a deep appreciation for the natural world and a belief in the importance of authenticity and sincerity in artistic expression. However, as he delved deeper into the world of art, he found himself increasingly captivated by its possibilities and potential for self-expression.

Meet ORIOL ANGRILL JORDÀ | Contemplative Fine Artist & Illustrator
We had the good fortune of connecting with ORIOL ANGRILL JORDÀ and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ORIOL, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
That’s a great question.
One of them is my dear Elisabeth Salcedo @eligolondrina who is a very sensible photographer with who I have work with too. Angrill uses art as a language of introspection and empathy, a place for silent contemplation and inner connection. With each brushstroke, he seeks to capture the essence of the human experience, inviting viewers to embark on a journey of discovery and self-reflection.
They all are ways of saying things, which bring different intensities and meanings to what you are trying to express.
Sometimes, I’m mesmerized by a simple sketch made with a few lines and it’s a shame we don’t realize that this drawing compared to another technique can totally defeat the most accurate work in oil painting, for example.
For those who don’t know, it is a beautiful island in the Mediterranean sea. All my career, I’ve been learning different traditional techniques and therefore their own language. Based on illustration and nature aestethics references which guides my work through a constant exploration of styles, materials and different supports.”
